Weeks before our team was getting ready to come to Jamaica, it was made known to me that I was put in charge of organizing and preparing for the vacation bible school program that would take place at the Salvation Army School for the Blind. I was overjoyed with the opportunity to plan and organize the event, yet at the same time I was very nervous about how things would actually go once we were on the mission field. While at home I did my best to organize games and crafts, assign our group members to teaching and leading positions, and plan the flow of the two hours we had to work with the blind students. After thoroughly preparing, we as a team gathered our supplies and were on our way. While we were traveling I still had concern in my heart that VBS would turn out to be a complete disaster, but at the same time the Lord was comforting me as I lifted VBS into His hands. Looking back on VBS now, I believe that it could not have gone any smoother. The Lord worked in the lives of the children and in the hearts of our team. Without Him, none of this would have been possible. I am so thankful that the Lord prepared our group to come here, allowed us to adapt our VBS program while we were here, and that He made it a success for all of the people who were involved with it. I pray that our time here has made an impact on these children and that they may grow up strong in The Lord.
